Conference Carolinas Monday Weekly Award Winners

  • Player of the Week
    Matthew Staskunas, Belmont Abbey

    Staskunas posted 25 kills in a five-set win over Emmanuel last week. He hit .327 in the match and added four digs and three blocks. For the week he averaged 5.00 kills per set.

    Specialist of the Week
    Jackson Lahey, Mount Olive

    A sophomore setter from Pembroke Pines, Florida, Lahey averaged 12.67 assists and 3.00 digs per set, as the Trojans delivered a 3-0 sweep over rival Barton on Wednesday night. He directed the offense with 38 assists while adding nine digs and three blocks against the Bulldogs.

    Lahey paces the Conference Carolinas with 741 assists and 34 service aces while ranking seventh in the league with 60 total blocks.

  • Offensive Player of the Week
    Bria Hamilton, Mount Olive

    A native of Victoria, British Columbia, Hamilton totaled seven goals, eight draw controls, and six ground balls, as the Trojans secured a pair of wins on the road to extend their winning streak to six in a row. On Tuesday, she produced two goals, five draw controls, two ground balls, and one caused turnover in an 18-10 win at Lander. Over the weekend, Hamilton registered a five-goal performance while adding three draw controls and four ground balls to defeat Young Harris by a 15-4 margin in league play.

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Madison Dow, Mount Olive

    A sophomore defender from White Hall, Maryland, Dow produced a pair of dominant defensive performances after totaling nine caused turnovers and three ground balls in a pair of victories last week for the Trojans. On Tuesday afternoon, she caused four turnovers and collected one ground ball in an 18-10 win at Lander on the road. Over the weekend, Dow matched a career-high with five caused turnovers while tallying two ground balls in a 15-4 victory over Young Harris.

    Dow ranks fourth in the Conference Carolinas with 24 caused turnovers this season.

    Offensive Player of the Week: Bria Hamilton, Mount Olive

  • Offensive Player of the Week
    Aidan Lalonde, Mount Olive

    A 6-foot-3 senior on the attack, Lalonde produced a six-point performance with five goals and an assist on Saturday afternoon, as the Trojans scored five unanswered goals to secure a 17-14 road win at North Greenville. Lalonde has tallied at least five points for the Trojan offense in four straight matches and is tied for third in the Conference Carolinas with 28 goals this season.

    Against the Crusaders, Lalonde scored a pair of goals in the first half before netting a goal and an assist in the third quarter. With NGU holding a 14-12 lead, Lalonde contributed two of the five goals in a comeback victory over the Crusaders in the final six-plus minutes of the contest.

    Defensive Player of the Week
    Nathan Metcalf, Barton

    Barton senior goalkeeper Nathan Metcalf allowed just three goals and kept Young Harris scoreless after the first quarter to go along with 13 saves in the Bulldogs' 15-3 victory over Young Harris Saturday at home.
