BRISTOL, Tenn. – The semifinals of the Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship saw top seed and ninth-ranked Limestone advance to the championship as well as third seed Lander.
In the first semifinal, Limestone grabbed a 36.725-33.400 lead in the compulsory event, but the Valkyries cut into the deficit in the acro event. However, Limestone closed the first half with a solid pyramid event before slightly increasing their lead in the toss and tumbling events. The Saints then closed out the 253.085-234.535 win with a solid team event.
The second semifinal saw second seed Coker jump out to a 36.200-34.725 lead in the compulsory event. The Cobras then increased their lead in the next two events, acro and pyramid. Third seed Lander inched closer in the toss event before nearly pulling even in the tumbling event. Lander outscored Coker 50.875-48.550 in the tumbling event, pulling the Bearcats within one point. Lander closed the meet with a score of 86.620 before Coker scored 86.690, giving Lander the 255.320-255.115 victory.
Limestone will take on Lander at 5:00 p.m. in the championship at King University in Bristol, Tennessee.
Prior to that, Conference Carolinas will hold the individual event finals at 11:00 a.m.
