Erskine, King advance to Men's Volleyball Championship semifinals

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The 2024 Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Championship started with a pair of tight quarterfinal contests on Tuesday night. Mount Olive held off their upset-minded rival Barton whlie King came away with an upset at Erskine.

Sixth seed King came away with a four-set upset at third seed Erskine. Erskine won the opening set 25-22, but King came back to even the match a 1-1 with a 25-21 second-set win. The Tornado then won the final two sets in extra points, 27-25 to win the match 3-1.

In the other quarterfinal fifth seed Barton got off to a hot start, taking the first set at fourth seed Mount Olive 25-20 before the Trojans responded to take the second set 25-11. Barton responded by taking the third set 25-21 on a block, but Mount Olive had an answer again. Mount Olive forced a decisive fifth set with a 25-17 victory in the fourth set. The Trojans scored the first three points of the fifth set and pulled away to take the set 15-9 and win the match 3-2.

Mount Olive takes on top seed Belmont Abbey in the first semifinal in North Charleston, S.C. on Friday, April 19 before King faces second seed North Greenville in the second semifinal. The first match is scheduled for 5:00 p.m. with the second semifinal to start at 7:30 p.m.

The 2024 Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Championship final is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. on Saturday, April 22.
