Conference Carolinas announces 2024 Softball Championship bracket

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Nationally ranked Francis Marion enters the 2024 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship as the top seed for the first time in program history. The championship starts on Thursday, April 25 with four play-in contests at Tyger River Park in Duncan, S.C.
Francis Marion, the east division champion enters the championship with an overall record of 41-10, going 20-4 in Conference Carolinas contests. They await the winner of eighth seed King and ninth seed Barton. King, the northwest division champion owns a record of 26-22, going 13-11 in Conference Carolinas play while Barton is 24-22 overall and 13-11 in league play.
Southwest division champion, North Greenville, earned the second seed with a 17-7 record in Conference Carolinas, as the Crusaders are 34-18 overall. They will face the winner of seventh seed Southern Wesleyan and 10th seed UNC Pembroke. Southern Wesleyan owns a 20-26 overall record, going 10-14 in Conference Carolinas games while UNC Pembroke is 19-32 overall and 10-14 in league play.
Mount Olive earned the third seed with a 16-8 record in Conference Carolinas games while owning a 35-14 overall mark. They await the winner of sixth seed Lees-McRae and 11th seed Belmont Abbey. Both Lees-McRae and Belmont Abbey went 13-11 in Conference Carolinas games with Lees-McRae owning an 18-22 overall record and Belmont Abbey going 21-16.
Young Harris will be the fourth seed with an overall record of 28-22, going 15-9 in Conference Carolinas contests. They will take on the winner of fifth seed Emmanuel and 12th seed Erskine. Emmanuel enters with an overall record of 29-22, going 15-9 in league contests while Erskine is 8-34 overall and 5-19 in Conference Carolinas games.
The bracket for the Conference Carolinas Softball Championship was determined through the use of KPI, but due to Conference Carolinas tiebreaking procedures when a comparison of KPI values is within .002, the third seed was awarded to Mount Olive due to better conference winning percentage than Young Harris and the sixth seed was awarded to Lees-McRae due to a better conference winning percentage than Southern Wesleyan.
The quarterfinals of the championship bracket will take place at 12 p.m. on Friday, April 26 with elimination games at 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. Saturday, April 27, will feature the winners’ bracket semifinal at 12:00 p.m., an elimination game at 2:00 p.m. and another elimination game at 4:00 p.m. for the right to advance to the final in the double-elimination tournament The championship final is slated for 12:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28 with the “if-necessary” game at 2:00 p.m.
