Barton, Young Harris advance to women's lacrosse championship semifinal

GREENVILLE, S.C. - Third seed Young Harris and fifth seed Barton advanced to the semifinals of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship with wins on Monday night.
Young Harris used a big first half to defeat sixth seed Converse 20-9. The Mountain Lions scored six goals in the first quarter before adding eight in the second quarter to take a 14-5 lead at halftime. Young Harris then ouscored Converse 6-4 in the second half to advance to the semifinals. Ruthie Mandell led Young Harris with five goals while Belle Hardwick added four goals and two assists.
Barton upset fourth seed Emmanuel following a big second quarter that saw the Bulldogs outscore the Lions 8-2 to take an 11-4 lead at the half. However, the Lions responded with a 7-1 third quarter, pulling within 12-11 going to the final quarter. Emmanuel evened the contest at 12 on Paige Murphy's sixth goal of the contest. However, Barton responed wtih back-to-back goals from Avery Woodcock and Taryn Ugliono. Barton added two more tallies following an Emmanuel goal to take the contest 16-13.
Barton will now face top seed Mount Olive on Thursday, April 25 while Young Harris faces second seed Belmont Abbey Thursday afternoon.
The final of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 on the Mount Olive campus.
