Barton, North Greenville advance to Men's Lacrosse Championship semifinals

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Barton and North Greenville opened the 2024 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Championship with wins on Tuesday evening to advance to Friday's semifinals.
The Barton defense was stout, as they didn't allow a goal in the first half against fifth seed Young Harris. The fouth-seeded Bulldogs tallied five goals in the first quarter and three in the second quarter to take an 8-0 lead at the break. Barton added three goals in each of the final quarters to take the contest 14-3. Nic Lord led Barton with four goals while J.J. Mitchell and Bryce Washington added two goals apiece.
The first quarter went back-and-forth as sixth seed Chowan answered a pair of North Greenville goals with two tallies to even the score in the opening minutes. The third-seeded Crusaders held a 5-4 lead after the first period. North Greenville extended their lead to 10-6 at the half, outscoring the Hawks 5-2 in the second quarter. North Greenville put the game out of reach in the third quarter, scoring nine times to take a 19-8 advantage. Chowan cut into the deficit in the fourth quarter, but North Greenville took the contest 21-13. Yates Miller led North Greenville with four goals while five Crusaders added two goals each. Erik Dozzi and Jacob Malia led Chowan with four goals apiece.
The semifinals will take place at Barton on Friday, April 26 as the Bulldogs will face off against top seed Mount Olive at 4:00 p.m. North Greenville will then take on second seed Belmont Abbey in the second semifinal at 7:00 p.m.
The final of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Men's Lacrosse Championship is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, April 28.
