Mount Olive, Young Harris advance to women's lacrosse championship

 Top seed Mount Olive and third seed Young Harris advanced to the championship of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship with wins on Thursday afternoon.

Regular season champion Mount Olive got off to a hot start, taking an 8-4 lead over fifth seed Barton after the first quarter. The Trojans then led 11-7 at the break. Mount Olive pulled away in third quarter, holding Barton scoreless while scoing six goals. Both teams tallied three goals in the fourth quarter, giving Mount Olive the 20-10 win. Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, Logan Hibbard led Mount Olive with six goals and three assists.

Tamia Marshall led Barton with four goals and four assists while Syndey Quinn added four goals.

In the second semifinal, second seed Belmont Abbey and Young Harris went back-and-forth in the first three quarters as the Mountain Lions led 3-2 after the first quarter. However, the Crusaders came back to even the score at five at the half before the score was again even at 8-8 going to the fourth quarter. Belmont Abbey scored the first goal of the fourth quarter, but Young Harris came back with back-to-back goals before a Crusader tally evened the score with nine minutes remaining. Young Harris then scored two goals in 11 seconds to take the lead and added two more to take the contest 14-10.

Ella Hancock led Young Harris with four goals and one assists while Belle Hardwick and Ally Cattoni added three goals apiece. Katelyn Miller led Belmont Abbey with three goals.

Mount Olive and Young Harris will square off for 2024 Conference Carolinas Women's Lacrosse Championship at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, April 27 on the Mount Olive campus.
