UNC Pembroke's Rezek, Belmont Abbey's Sniffen take NCBWA Southeast Region Player and Pitcher of the Week
GREENVILLE, S.C. - Joey Rezek of UNC Pembroke has been selected National Collegiate Baseball Writers’ Association (NCBWA) Southeast Region Player of the Week and Alex Sniffen of Belmont Abbey has been tabbed NCBWA Pitcher of the Week.
In four games last week, Rezek posted 10 hits for a .769 batting average. He clubbed two home runs, drove in seven and scored nine runs for the Braves. Rezek posted two hits in each game of the final regular season series of the season, a sweep of Southern Wesleyan. He scored five runs and drove in two in the game three of the series. Earlier in the week he laced two home runs and four hits in a win over USC Beaufort.
Sniffen made the most of his final start at Abbey Yard finishing with a career-high 12 strikeouts and allowing just one hit and one run in a 4-1 win over eighth-ranked Young Harris. Additionally, he allowed just two baserunners over the minimum and struck out the first six Mountain Lions batters that he faced.
