Conference Carolinas releases 2024 baseball all-conference awards
GREENVILLE, S.C. – Prior to the start of the 2024 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship, the league announced their awards as selected by the head coaches.
North Greenville’s David Lewis was selected player of the year. The junior first basemen leads Conference Carolinas with 20 home runs and a slugging percentage of .847. Lewis ranks second in the league with 73 hits, 69 runs batted in, and 19 doubles. The Blue Ridge, South Carolina native owns .399 batting average, which ranks fifth in the league while his 57 runs scored rank fourth. Lewis’ OPS (on base plus slugging) of 1.329 ranks him second in Conference Carolinas.
Zach Murray of Young Harris was selected pitcher of the year. Murray, a senior led Conference Carolinas with 91.0 innings pitched. He went 9-0 on the season, the second most wins in the league as his four complete games led the league. The Cleveland, Georgia native made 13 starts and struck out 86, batters, ranking him third in Conference Carolinas.
Catcher Jack Enrico of Young Harris was tabbed freshman of the year. The rookie posted a .371 batting average, ranking him 12th in the league while his OPS of 1.160 ranked him seventh in Conference Carolinas. In 37 games, the Woodstock, Georgia native posted 43 hits, including 12 doubles and eight home runs. He added 42 runs batted in and scored 23 runs.
Young Harris skipper Stephen Waggener was selected coach of the year. In their first year in Conference Carolinas, Waggener led the Mountain Lions to a second-place finish and the second seed in the Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship. Young Harris posted a 22-8 record in Conference Carolinas contests and own a 38-11 overall record.
