Conference Carolinas has 45 student-athletes, three teams recognized as NWCA Scholar All-America
MANHEIM, Pa. - The National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) announced their NCAA Division II Scholar All-America teams and individuals this week and numerous Conference Carolinas student-athletes were recognized. Three teams were among the top 25 Scholar All-America Teams and 45 individuals were honored.
Lincoln Memorial and Montevallo both were in the top 10 as the Railsplitters were sixth with a GPA of 3.434 and Montevallo came in eighth with a GPA of 3.412. Mount Olive checked in at 25th with a 3.091 GPA.
In order for a student-athlete to be nominated to the Division II Scholar All-American Team, he must have a minimum 3.5 cumulative grade point average on a 4.0 scale, with that benchmark at 3.25 for those who qualified for the 2024 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships and a 3.0 for those who were All-Americans at the 2024 Nationals. Wrestlers must have competed in four dates of competition.
Ten Conference Carolinas programs had at least one individual Scholar All-American as Montevallo and UNC Pembroke led the way with eight apiece. Emmanuel had six honorees while Newberry had five and Lincoln Memorial and Mount Olive had four each. Lander and Limestone each at three while King and Belmont Abbey came in with two individuals each.
