Six Conference Carolinas track & field athletes, one relay qualify for NCAA Division II Outdoor Track & Field Championships

INDIANAPOLIS - The 2024 NCAA Division II Outdoor Track and Field Championships begin on Thursday, May 23 at Welch Stadium in Emporia, Kansas and six Conference Carolinas student-athletes and one relay from three institutions will compete across six different events.

Mount Olive led the way with three individuals and one relay qualify for the event while Belmont Abbey, Emmanuel and North Greenville all had one selection.

The Trojans’ 4x100 meter relay team of Chianel Asoburuenwu, Channie Jefferson, LaSira Nicholson, and Heavan Roberts own a time of 45.50, ranking them 16th in a 17-team field. Jefferson will also compete in the 400 meter hurdles as her time of 59.26 ranks 10th in the field. Adrienne Crawford owns a hammer throw mark of 56.41 meters, ranking her 15th of 20 while Danille Trimbur ranks seventh of 21 in the javelin throw with a mark of 47.77 meters.

Belmont Abbey’s Isabelle Flores qualified for the second straight year in the 400 meter hurdles as her time of 59.25 seconds ranks ninth in a field that features 20 runners.

Jai Piazza of Emmanuel qualified in the long jump with a leap of 6.10 meters. That mark ranks 17th in the 20-person field.

Miles Stephens of North Greenville will participate in both the 100 meter and 200 meter dash. His 100 meter time of 10.23 seconds ranks ninth in the field while his 200 meter time of 20.64 ranks sixth among 19 runners.
