Conference Carolinas places 14 on NCBWA All-Southeast Region teams

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Collegiate Baseball Writers Association (NCBWA) announced their all-region teams on Wednesday and Conference Carolinas led the Southeast Region with 14 individuals selected.

Zach Murray of Young Harris led the way as he was named Southeast Region Pitcher of the Year. The senior from Cleveland, Ga., led Young Harris to a second-place finish in their first year in Conference Carolinas, recording a 9-1 record with a 2.83 ERA across 95.1 innings in 14 starts, including four complete games. The Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year racked up 92 strikeouts with just 7.46 hits allowed per nine innings and a 1.12 WHIP.

Young Harris and North Greenville led the way with three first team members each as Murray was joined by catcher Jack Enrico and relief pitcher Dylan Beck. For North Greenville, Conference Carolinas Player of the Year and first basemen David Lewis, starting pitcher Reece Fields and relief pitcher Nate Roof all garnered first team distinction. UNC Pembroke’s Kody O’Conner, outfield, and Joey Rezek, designated hitter, rounded out the league’s eight first team all-region selections.

The second team was led by two members from UNC Pembroke and Mount Olive. Outfielder Michael Dolberry II and starting pitcher Jonathon Jacobs represented UNC Pembroke while Mount Olive was represented by outfielder Vito Patierno and starting pitcher Erik Johnson. The final two second team all-region honorees from Conference Carolinas were Connor Tucker from Belmont Abbey at utility and second baseman Josean Sánchez of Erskine.

Conference Carolinas led the way with 14 all-region selections, including a region-best eight on the first team.
