UNC Pembroke wins first Conference Carolinas Baseball title

GASTONIA, N.C. – UNC Pembroke won the 2024 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship, defeating Belmont Abbey on Monday afternoon at CaroMont Health Park.

Fourth seed UNC Pembroke jumped ahead of seventh seed Belmont Abbey in the first inning on a Joey Rezek two-run home run in the first inning. The Braves added four runs in the third, two on consecutive doubles from Michael Dolberry II and Rezek before a two-run Spencer Faulkner home run extended the lead to 6-0. Rezek extended the UNC Pembroke lead to 8-0 with a single to center field that scored two in the fourth. Will Hood drove in a pair in the seventh to give UNC Pembroke the 10-0 victory.

UNC Pembroke earns the automatic bid into the NCAA Division II Baseball Championship. The selection show is scheduled for Sunday, May 12 at 10:00 p.m. on NCAA.com. The regional championships will take place from May 16-19 with the super regionals to follow on May 24-25. The championship will take place from June 1-8 in Cary, North Carolina.
