Conference Carolinas' ‘Body, Mind, and Soul’ feature series earns district honors in CSC Stabley Writing Contest

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas “Body, Mind, Soul” feature series earned three district awards from the College Sports Communicators Fred Stabley Jr. Writing Contest.

Conference Carolinas was named the District 3 winner in the “Event Coverage” category and took home runner-up finishes in “Athlete Profile” and “Social Justice/Diversity.”

The 2023-24 “Event Coverage” district winner was a feature on the North Greenville women’s soccer team preseason trip to Australia (story).

The runner-up finishes were features on Erskine’s Neal Blank (story) and true student-athletes, Lauryn Taylor of Francis Marion and Emmanuel’s KJ Jones II (story).

Conference Carolinas has now won “Best in the District” honors for four consecutive years with Conference Carolinas claiming best in District 3 in the 2020-21 academic year for its profile on Michael Neustifter of North Greenville baseball (story) and in the 2021-22 academic year for its feature on then King 1,000-point scorer and NASA intern Trinity Lee (story). In 2022-23, Conference Carolinas earned two “Best in the District” honors for a feature on North Greenville’s rise to the 2022 NCAA Division II Baseball championship (story).

The “Body, Mind, and Soul” feature series is a collaboration between public relations legend Bob Rose and former Associate Commissioner for External Relations Brian Hand.
