GREENVILLE, S.C. – Leading into the 2024 seasons, eight Conference Carolinas members have teams ranked in their regional or national preseason rankings in men's golf, men's and women's soccer and men's and women's cross country.
In men’s golf, defending Conference Carolinas champion Barton College is ranked 23rd in the Golf Coaches Association of America (GCAA) Preseason Bushnell/Golfweek DII Coaches Poll. New member Shorter University and Belmont Abbey College are receiving votes in the poll.
Four soccer teams are in the United Soccer Coaches Southeast Regional polls, two men’s teams and two women’s teams. On the women’s side, defending league champion, UNC Pembroke is ranked seventh in the region while Belmont Abbey College is 10th. Defending Conference Carolinas men’s soccer champion Chowan University is ranked sixth, followed by Francis Marion University at seventh.
Three Conference Carolinas cross country teams are ranked in the U.S. Track & Field and Cross Country Coaches (USTFCCCA) Southeast Region poll. The UNC Pembroke men are ranked seventh and Lees-McRae College is ranked eighth in the region while the Converse University women are ranked sixth in the region.
The soccer season gets underway on Thursday with nine members in action while a pair of volleyball teams open their season on Thursday as well. Cross country action gets underway on Friday while the golf season starts on Monday.
