GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas men’s basketball developmental championship will take place on Monday, February 3 and Monday, February 10 on the campuses of Chowan University, Erskine College, King University, Shorter University and Belmont Abbey College.
The event, which is a unique championship opportunity for developmental teams within Conference Carolinas, will consist of a preliminary round at Chowan, Erskine, King and Shorter on February 3 with the champion from each site meeting for the semifinals and final slated for February 10 at Belmont Abbey.
Two preliminary sites, Chowan and Shorter, will feature three teams in a round-robin format. Any team that goes 2-0 will advance to Spartanburg for the championship final. If all teams are 1-1, a tiebreaker will be used to determine the advancing team.
The Erskine and King preliminary sites will each have four teams with four games played. The two semifinal games, and third place game and the championship game between the two winners. The winner of the championship game will be the advancing team.
The Chowan bracket features the host Hawks as well as the University of Mount Olive and Barton College. Chowan will face Mount Olive at 12:00 p.m. before facing Barton at 2:00 p.m. Barton will then take on Mount Olive at 4:00 p.m.
The Erskine bracket contains two Erskine teams as well as Converse University and Francis Marion University. One Erskine team will take on Francis Marion at 12:00 p.m. before the second Flying Fleet team takes on Converse at 2:00 p.m. The losers of those two games square off at 4:00 p.m. before the championship game at 6:00 p.m.
The King bracket features the host Tornado, two Belmont Abbey teams and Lees-McRae College. King takes on one of the Belmont Abbey teams at 12:00 p.m. before the second Crusader squad faces Lees-McRae at 2:00 p.m. The losers of those two games square off at 4:00 p.m. before the championship game at 6:00 p.m.
The Shorter bracket sees the host Hawks take on Emmanuel University at 12:00 p.m. before taking on Southern Wesleyan University at 2:00 p.m. Emmanuel then squares off with Southern Wesleyan at 4:00 p.m.
The championship semifinals and final will be held at Belmont Abbey on Monday, February 10. The semifinals are scheduled for 12:00 pm 1:00 p.m. and 2:00 or 3:00 p.m. with the championship final slated for 4:00 or 5:00 p.m.

In the 2024-25 season Conference Carolinas is scheduled to host a developmental championship in men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball men’s wrestling, men’s basketball, men’s volleyball and baseball. The developmental teams will be composed of student-athletes that have either not competed at the varsity level in 2024-25 or have competed sparingly at the varsity level by the time of the championship.
