GREENVILLE, S.C. – The 2025 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship semifinals saw the top two seeds, Francis Marion University and Belmont Abbey College take 3-1 wins to setup a rematch of last year's title contest.
No. 1 Francis Marion def. No. 5 Young Harris 3-1
Conference Carolinas Offensive Player of the Year, Tehya Dave' opened the scoring with a goal in the third minute to give Francis Marion a 1-0 lead over Young Harris. The score remained the same until Conference Carolinas Defensive Player of the Year, Alana Hunt gave the Patriots a 2-0 lead with a goal on a free kick in the 50th minute.
Dave' then assisted on a Cora Lepper goal that gave Francis Marion a 3-1 lead in the 62nd minute. Young Harris tried to spark a comeback as Sunny Bowlin-Stacy netted a goal in the 68th minute. However, that was all Francis Marion surrendered in the 3-1 victory.
No. 2 Belmont Abbey def. No. 3 UNC Pembroke 3-1
Francesca Highton gave Belmont Abbey an early lead with a goal in the ninth minute with assists to Caroline Roache and Haley Long. However, UNC Pembroke answered with an Eli Soderberg goal in the 10th minute with an assist to Reagan Carr.
Belmont Abbey regained the lead in the 30th minute on a goal from Hannah Willis, again assisted by Long. The Crusaders capped the 3-1 win with a Long penalty kick goal in the 46th minute.
Francis Marion will take on Belmont Abbey in the championship contest for the second straight season. Last year, the Patriots scored in the final 10 seconds to take the 1-0 victory. Kickoff from Truist Soccer Complex at Bryan Park is scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.
