WEST PALM BEACH, Fla. – Young Harris College fell to Flagler College on Friday in the opening round of the NCAA Division II Men’s Soccer Championship.

Young Harris, the ninth seed and ranked 12th in the United Soccer Coaches national poll, faced eighth seed Flagler it what was a tight match. The opening 45 minutes was defensive with only four total shots, three coming from Flager. Young Harris turned away both shots that were on target as the game remained scoreless at the half.
Both teams picked up the offensive intensity in the second half with 20 combined shots, 14 from Flager and six from Young Harris. Flagler broke through on a Daniel Becerra goal in the 72nd minute and added another in the 73 minute from Alex Alexandrou. From there, the Saints packed in their defense to take the match 2-0.
Young Harris ends the season with a 15-2-3 record, winning the Conference Carolinas Southwest Division and their first Conference Carolinas Men’s Soccer Championship title.
