Emmanuel, North Greenville to matchup in 2025 Conference Carolinas Women's Volleyball Championship final

BRISTOL, Tenn. – The third and fourth seeds, Emmanuel University and North Greenville University will square off for 2025 Conference Carolinas Women’s Volleyball Championship title on Sunday. Emmanuel won their semifinal match in four sets while North Greenville posted a five-set win for the second straight night.

The Trailblazers jumped out to a 6-1, forcing a Francis Marion timeout before extending the advantage to 8-2. The Patriots then chipped away and used a 5-0 run to take and 18-17 lead and held off a late rally to take the opening set 26-24. North Greenville bounced back and used a 6-0 run to take the lead and eventually win the second set 25-23.

North Greenville went on a 4-0 run late in the third set to take a 23-22 lead, but the Patriots responded with three straight points to take the set 25-23. Trailing 17-15 in the fourth set, North Greenville used three straight points to take the advantage and held on for the 25-23 win, forcing a fifth set. A pair of North Greenville 4-0 vaulted the Trailblazers to the 15-11 wins, including the final four points of the set.

Samantha Ball led North Greenville with 19 kills and 27 digs while Allison Ball posted 30 assists and 12 digs. Elise Smith added 12 kills and Peyton Taylor chipped in with 10 kills. Macie Gentry contributed 24 digs and Ellenor Crimmins chipped in with 21 digs.

Madilyn Gartner led Francis Marion with 25 kills as she was followed by Caroline Lucas’ 17 kills. Allison Miller chipped in with 10 kills and 17 digs. Katie Floyd led the back row with 26 digs and Kayla Clayworth added 25 digs.

North Greenville advances to their third Conference Carolinas Women’s Volleyball Championship final, the other two instances came in the spring of 2021 and the fall of 2021, dropping both in five sets.

Emmanuel posted 12 kills and a .220 attack percentage, winning the opening set 25-20. It looked like the Lions might cruise to a 2-0 lead in the second set, but Converse fought back and took a 21-19 lead before an Emmanuel timeout. The Lions later fought off two set points with back-to-back Brooke Lee kills to even the score at 24. Lee added another kill before Cailin Pritchard gave Emmanuel the 26-24 win with another termination.

Emmanuel looked to take the sweep as they controlled the third set until a 4-0 Converse run gave the Valkyries a 23-19 lead. Converse went on to take the set 25-21. Emmanuel then opened up a 9-4 lead in the fourth set and gradually extended the advantage to take the set 25-15 and the match 3-2.

Lee led Emmanuel with 18 kills and eight digs while Pritchard added 11 kills and a .471 attack percentage. Ellie Jackson added nine kills and 18 digs while Marusa Pesut handed out 40 assist to go along with 11 digs.

Bree Lyons led Converse with 16 kills and 11 digs while Samiya Bryant added 11 kills. Noemia Chiacchio led the back row with 19 digs. Alysah Arroyo handed out 42 assists.

Emmanuel advances to Sunday’s final to take on North Greenville. This marks the fifth time the Lions will play for the title. They previously won crowns in 2018, 2019 and 2023 while finishing runner-up in 2022.

First serve for Sunday’s championship match from the Student Center Complex in Bristol, Tennessee is scheduled for 3:00 p.m.
