Conference Carolinas cross country teams compete at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional

WINGATE, N.C. – Conference Carolinas cross country programs competed at the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional on Saturday morning hosted at Wingate University.

WOMEN’S RESULTS

North Greenville University entered the championship ranked ninth in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Rankings and the Trailblazers finished the championship in seventh place. The next Conference Carolinas team was Lees-McRae College in 13th.

Individually, Hailey Morgan of the University of Mount Olive led the way, coming in 16th with a 6k time of 22:38.90. Megan Knapp of Lees-McRae wasn’t far behind, finishing 17th in 22:44.40.

MEN’S RESULTS

UNC Pembroke and Young Harris College entered the day ranked in the USTFCCCA Southeast Region Rankings, sixth and seventh, respectively. UNC Pembroke finished sixth, Young Harris took seventh and the next Conference Carolinas team was Converse University in 12th.

Kelvin Kibet of UNC Pembroke was the top individual finisher, taking 18th with a 10k time of 32:29.02.

The regional meet is a qualifying event for the NCAA Division Cross Country National Championships. The top three teams at each of the eight regional championships will automatically advance to the championship finals while 10 at-large teams will be selected by the NCAA Division II Men’s and Women’s Cross Country Committee for a total of 34 teams.

In addition to team qualifications, the top two individuals who are not part of a qualifying team will automatically advance to the championship finals. All individuals who finish in the top five at the regional meet and are not part of a qualifying team will earn a bid to the championship finals and eight individuals will be selected as at-large qualifiers.

The 2025 NCAA Division II Cross Country Championships will be held on Saturday, November 22 at Wayne E. Dannehl National Cross Country in Kenosha, Wisconsin. The official qualifiers will be released on Monday, November 10.
