Top seeds highlight Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship quarterfinal winners

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The 2025 Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship continued on Saturday with three of the top four seeds advancing to the semifinals. Fifth seed Young Harris College upset fourth seed Emmanuel University to round out the four teams headed to Browns Summit, North Carolina.

No. 2 Belmont Abbey def. No. 7 Lees-McRae 4-0
Belmont Abbey outplayed Lees-McRae, holding the Bobcats to two shots, one in each half, and only one on target. Offensively, Belmont Abbey took 20 shots, converting on four of the 12 shots on frame. Francesca Highton got the Crusaders on the board with a goal in the 12th minute with an assist to Maris Toppin. Belmont Abbey added three goals in the second half, the first in the 60th minute from Addie Galek. Hannah Willis then scored two goals coming in the 79th and 81st minutes to give Belmont Abbey the 4-0 victory.

The Crusaders advance to a Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship semifinal in Browns Summit, North Carolina. Belmont Abbey with face third seed UNC Pembroke at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Bryan Park.

No. 1 Francis Marion def. No. 8 Converse 2-0
Top seed and 21st-ranked Francis Marion outplayed Converse on both ends, holding the Valkyries to four shots, and only two on frame. Both of those shots were turned away by goalkeeper Erin Grabeel for Francis Marion's 14th shutout of the season. Madeline Ballard gave the Patriots the lead in the 11th minute with assists going to Jaylynn Kemmerlin and Tehya Dave'. Francis Marion struck again in the 57th minute on a Dave' goal with assists to Kemmerlin and Alana Hunt. The score held up, giving the defending tournament champions the win.

The Patriots advance to a Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship semifinal in Browns Summit, North Carolina. They will face fifth seed Young Harris at 3:30 p.m. on Friday at Bryan Park.

No. 3 UNC Pembroke def. No. 11 Ferrum 3-1
The UNC Pembroke defense was solid all day, only allowing six Ferrum shots with five coming in the second half. Mercy Bell provided the offense with goals in the 32nd and 54th minutes to give the Braves a 2-0 lead. Freya Lodge Whitham added another goal in the 81st minute before the Panthers answered with an Amber Nichole Gillen goal in the 82nd minute on a penalty kick. That was all the Braves allowed to advance to the semifinals.

The Braves advance to a Conference Carolinas Women's Soccer Championship semifinal in Browns Summit, North Carolina. They will face second seed Belmont Abbey at 6:30 p.m. on Friday at Bryan Park.

No. 5 Young Harris def. No. 4 Emmanuel 1-0
The opening 45 minutes was played even as Young Harris took five shots and Emmanuel attempted three shots. Each team had one shot on goal, but neither was able to score. Young Harris again held a slight advantage in the second half in shots at 10-8, taking three shots on goal to Emmanuel's four. Emily Janz turned away all five shots for the Mountain Lions in goal, while the offense finally broke through in the 81st minute. Candice Deschamps found Sunny Bowlin-Stacy who laced a shot into the upper left 90, giving Young Harris the advantage. Young Harris held that lead to advance to the semifinals.
