GREENVILLE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas Developmental Men’s Basketball Championship began on Monday with preliminary rounds at four different sites across the conference and four teams advanced to the semifinals which will be contested on Monday, February 10.
Chowan University, Erskine College, King University and Shorter University all hosted preliminary rounds, with the Chowan and Shorter brackets consisting of three teams and the Erskine and King sites hosting four teams.
Barton advances out of the Chowan bracket with a pair of wins. The Bulldogs defeated Chowan 84-68 and narrowly over the University of Mount Olive 86-83.
At the Erskine site, Converse University defeated Erskine A 67-65 while Erskine B topped Francis Marion University 77-42 to start the day. Erskine B finished the day with a 79-50 win over Converse to advance to the semifinals.
At the King preliminary site, King started with a 68-58 win over Belmont Abbey College A before Lees-McRae College defeated Belmont Abbey B 80-61. The Bobcats then topped King 91-81 to advance to the semifinals.
Southern Wesleyan University advanced out of the Shorter backet thanks to a triple at the buzzer. The Warriors first topped Shorter 109-89 before beating the horn to defeat Emmanuel 84-81.
The championship semifinals and final will take place on Monday, February 10 at Belmont Abbey in Belmont, North Carolina. Lees-McRae and Southern Wesleyan will square off at 12:00 p.m. before Erskine and Barton matchup at 2:00 p.m. The winners will square off for the championship at 4:00 p.m.

In the 2024-25 season Conference Carolinas is scheduled to host a developmental championship in men’s soccer, women’s soccer, women’s volleyball men’s wrestling, men’s basketball, men’s volleyball and baseball. The developmental teams will be composed of student-athletes that have either not competed at the varsity level in 2024-25 or have competed sparingly at the varsity level by the time of the championship.
