UNC Pembroke opens play at NCAA Men's Basketball Southeast Regional on Saturday

GREENVILLE, S.C. – UNC Pembroke will play in the NCAA Division II Men's Basketball Championship that starts play on Saturday. The Southeast Regional will be held at the Columbus State University in Columbus, Georgia from Saturday, March 15 through Monday, March 18.

The Conference Carolinas East Division and tournament champion Braves earned the fifth seed and will face fourth seed Lincoln Memorial University in the opening round on Saturday. That contest is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. on Saturday night. Lincoln Memorial won the South Atlantic Conference (SAC) regular season title and finished runner-up in the tournament, falling in overtime in the championship game. The Railsplitters own a record of 25-5 and are ranked 13th in the NABC poll and 14th in the D2CSC poll while the Braves own a 22-8 and are ranked 25th in the NABC poll.

The other matchups in the regional feature top seed and host Columbus State taking on eighth seed Carson-Newman University at 5:00 p.m. with the winner of the game facing the winner of the UNC Pembroke-Lincoln Memorial contest.

Third seed Lenoir-Rhyne faces sixth seed Augusta University at 12:00 p.m. and the winner of that contest will face the winner of the 2:30 p.m. contest that pits second seed USC Aiken and seventh seed Catawba College.

The semifinal games are scheduled for Sunday at 5:00 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. Should UNC Pembroke win they will play in the 7:30 p.m. contest.
The regional championship game will be on Tuesday at 7:00 p.m.
