PEMBROKE, N.C. – A total of 30 individuals from Conference Carolinas qualified for the 2025 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships, while Lander University claimed the team title at the Super Region II Championships on Saturday at UNC Pembroke.
Lander won their third straight NCAA Super Region II championship with 157.0 points. UNC Pembroke finished second with 117.0 points while Newberry College finished third with 109.5 points. Belmont Abbey College and King University finished tied for fourth with 107.5 points to round out the top five.
King head coach Blaze Shade was selected National Wrestling Coaches Association (NWCA) Super Region II Coach of the Year.
Lander led the way with eight qualifiers as they were followed by five from Belmont Abbey and four each from King and Newberry. UNC Pembroke and the University of Mount Olive each have three qualifiers while the University of Montevallo has two and Coker University has one.
The top three wrestlers in each of the 10 weight classes at all six NCAA Division II regionals will qualify for the 2025 NCAA Division II Wrestling Championships that will be held March 14-15 in Indianapolis, Indiana at Indiana Farmers Coliseum at the Indiana State Fairgrounds. The championship brackets will be announced on Friday, March 7.
Two Conference Carolinas members competed in the NCAA Super Region III Championships in Tiffin, Ohio. Bluefield State University finished 10th and Emory & Henry University finished 12th.
