Belmont Abbey advances to both men's and women's final of the 2025 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Bowling Championships

NEWPORT, Ky. – On the second day of the 2025 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Bowling Championships both the Belmont Abbey College men and women advanced to their respective championship matches on Sunday. The Crusader men came from behind to win their semifinal match, while the women won back-to-back matches to reach the final.

Walsh University came back from a 3-0 deficit to stay alive and had top seed Belmont Abbey College their first loss 4-3. Thomas More University became the final undefeated team when they topped Emmanuel University 4-2. Barton College eliminated Ursuline College with a 4.5-2.5 victory.

Belmont Abbey then topped Emmanuel 4-1 after the Lions took the opening game. Walsh dropped their first two games to Barton, but came back to take the 4-2 win to advance to Sunday.

In the next match, Belmont Abbey defeated Thomas More 4-0. With the win, the Crusaders advance to Sunday’s MegaMatch championship. Thomas More will face Walsh at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday with the winner taking on Belmont Abbey 10 minutes following the completion of the first match.

Belmont Abbey and Thomas More advanced to Sunday’s championship with semifinal wins early Saturday morning. The Crusaders erased a 3-0 deficit to defeat Emmanuel 4-3. Thomas More topped Walsh 4.5-2.5 before defeating Emmanuel 4-2. The Saints will have to beat Belmont Abbey in Sunday’s MegaMatch, and then earned a win in a best-of-seven baker match while Belmont Abbey just needs to win the MegaMatch to take the crown. The championship match will start at 9:00 a.m. on Sunday morning.
