GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas has recognized its Elite 23 Award Presented by McGriff Insurance Services winners over the course of the winter portion of the 2024-25 championship season.
In basketball, Chance Keen of King University and Lilly Griffith of Young Harris College earned the awards while the bowling awards went to Gavin Gucwa of Belmont Abbey and Maggie Lewis of Walsh University. Emmanuel University took home both swimming awards with Keaton McCabe and Alexandra Cerbino while the indoor track & field awards went to Belmont Abbey's Jack Baird and Shorter University's April Jacobson. In wrestling, Colby Teague of the University of Mount Olive and Claire DiCugno of King earned the awards.
The Elite 23 Award honors Conference Carolinas student-athletes with the highest cumulative grade-point average at their respective championship site.
The award is modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 Award and it allows all student-athletes at the final championship site to win the award.
In men's and women's bowling, the award is named the Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Academic Excellence Award. In women's wrestling, the award is named the South Atlantic Conference Carolinas Academic Excellence Award.
