FLORENCE, S.C. – The Conference Carolinas Developmental Baseball Championship concluded on Monday with three exciting contests. Southern Wesleyan University defeated Erskine College 13-6 to take the crown.

In game one, Erskine trailed Francis Marion University 4-2 after three innings 4-3 going to the seventh and final inning. However, the Flying Fleet scored four runs to take the contest 7-4 and advance to the championship game.
In the second semifinal, Southern Wesleyan jumped ahead to 2-0 with a pair of runs in the second inning. The Warriors later scored five in the fifth, taking a 7-0 lead before Young Harris College scored two runs in each the sixth and seventh innings. It wasn’t enough, however, as the Warriors took the contest 7-4.
Erskine jumped ahead with a pair of runs in the first before both teams scored runs in the second. The Warrior offense exploded for five runs in the third to take a 6-3 lead. Southern Wesleyan extended the lead with four runs in the fifth before adding two runs in the sixth to take a 12-6 lead. The Warriors added another run in the ninth to take the game 13-6.
Wade Turner was selected as the championship MVP.
