Belmont Abbey captures second straight Conference Carolinas Men's Volleyball Championship crown

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Belmont Abbey College captured their second straight Conference Carolinas Men’s Volleyball Championship on Saturday, defeating top seed and 20th-ranked University of Mount Olive.

The second-seeded Crusaders played well on both ends of the court, hitting .367 in the match while holding the Trojans to a .124 clip. Belmont Abbey hit a blistering .407 in the opening set while holding Mount Olive to -0.033 to take the first set 25-18.

In the second set, Belmont Abbey recorded 18 kills and attack percentage of .371 to take the set 25-23. The high offensive pace continued in the third set as Belmont Abbey hit at a .321 clip in the third set, winning the set 25-22 and the match 3-0.

Zach Puentes led Belmont Abbey with 12 kills, six digs and six blocks while Ryan Charles added 10 kills and four digs. Puentes hit .500 and Charles hit .421 in the win.

Kory Grant led Mount Olive with 13 kills and seven digs while Tate Sandvig added 10 kills and six digs.

Belmont Abbey wins their second straight conference title and third in program history. The Crusaders earn the automatic bid into the NCAA NC Men’s Volleyball Championship.

The 2025 NC men's volleyball championship is May 8-12 at Covelli Center in Columbus, Ohio. Pairings and seedings for the championship will be established by the committee once the teams are selected. The committee will determine the order and time of matches in consultation with the NCAA broadcast partners. The selection show will air live on April 27 at 4 p.m. ET on NCAA.com.
