GREENVILLE, S.C. – Francis Marion University and Young Harris College shared the regular season baseball title as the Patriots won the tiebreaker to earn the top seed in the 2025 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship. The tournament is scheduled to start on Wednesday, April 30 at CaroMont Health Park in Gastonia, North Carolina with three games also being played at Sims Legion Park.
The regular season title is the first for both Francis Marion and Young Harris. The Patriots finished with a KPI of 0.137 with Young Harris at 0.135. Conference seeding procedures dictate that any KPI comparison within 0.002 is a tie. The Patriots won the tiebreaker based on winning the series against the Mountain Lions to earn the top seed in the championship. Both teams went 22-8 in Conference Carolinas play as the Patriots are 38-11 overall and the Mountain Lions own a 37-13 mark.
Belmont Abbey College is the third seed with a 0.119 KPI and North Greenville University is the fourth seed with their KPI of 0.108. With a KPI of 0.075, UNC Pembroke is the fifth seed and Barton College is the sixth seed with a KPI of 0.065. Those six teams are automatically in the double elimination portion of the bracket.
Seventh seed, the University of Mount Olive finished with a KPI of 0.048 and Emmanuel University is the eighth seed with a KPI of 0.017. The final two teams in the tournament are Shorter University at ninth with a KPI of -0.018 and King University at 10th with a KPI of -0.076.
The tournament starts with Shorter (26-20, 14-16) taking on Emmanuel (25-24, 14-16) at 1:00 p.m. and King (14-36, 8-22) facing Mount Olive (29-19, 17-13) at 5:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Both of those contests are single elimination games.
The double elimination portion of the bracket starts on Thursday with four games, the first at 11:00 a.m. with the Shorter-Emmanuel winner facing Francis Marion. The first game at Sims Legion Park starts at 1:00 p.m. on Thursday as that will feature North Greenville (42-11, 21-9) and UNC Pembroke (28-20, 16-14). Young Harris then takes on the Mount Olive-King winner at 3:00 p.m. before the day completes with Belmont Abbey (34-14, 21-9) taking on Barton (29-20, 19-11) at 7:00 p.m.
