Conference Carolinas featured in NCATA postseason awards

GREENVILLE, S.C. – The National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) announced their postseason awards, and Conference Carolinas had a heavy presence. Kacie Kier of Limestone University led the way as she was selected Division II Athlete of the Year and earned All-America honors.

Earlier this spring, Kier was selected Conference Carolinas Athlete of the Year for the third straight year. The senior competed in 13 heats, including team event this season. Kier posted 41 scores of at least 9.50 this season, including the highlights of a 10.0 open pyramid, two scores of 9.90 in duo pyramid, a 9.80 score in seven-element acro, and a 9.95 in their aerial tumbling pass. In March, she was selected NCATA Athlete of the Week, as well as NCATA Athlete of the Week honorable mention.

Limestone’s Anna Warring was selected the recipient of the Louie Goodrum Academic Achievement Award.

The Louise Goodrum Academic Award is given annually to recognize the true meaning of student-athlete. Modeled after the NCAA's Elite 90 award, which honors the individual who has reached the pinnacle of competition at the national championship level in his or her sport while also achieving the highest academic standard in his/her sport. In the NCATA, the award is presented to the junior or senior student-athlete with the highest cumulative grade-point average whose team earned a berth participating in the NCATA national championship tournament.

Janai Brown of Limestone and DeAnna Wollard of Belmont Abbey College and Chloe Cleland of Converse University were named to the NCATA All-Academic Team.

Conference Carolinas also had 142 student-athletes named to the NCATA Academic Honor Roll.
