GREENVILLE, S.C. – The second day of the 2025 NCAA Baseball Championship saw all three Conference Carolinas teams fall. Belmont Abbey College and North Greenville University will face elmination games on Saturday while Young Harris College was eliminated.
Fifth seed North Greenville fell behind top seed and host Catawba College 3-0 after the first inning. The Trailblazers fought back, however as a Bryce Roddey two-out single scored one in the fourth. In the sixth, Matthew Albritton ripped a home run before Brett Blomquist evened the score with a two-out single.
The score remained the same until the Indians manufactured a run in the top of the 11th to take the contest 4-3. North Greenville will face eighth seed Lander University at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The winner will then face Catawba at 6:00 p.m.
Second seed Belmont Abbey dropped their first contest of the regional, falling to third seed Lenoir-Rhyne University. Both teams scored in all but two innings, but the Crusaders only scored one run in each inning while the Bears posted multiple runs in four different innings to take the contest 13-7.
Belmont Abbey faces sixth seed University of North Georgia at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday in an elimination game. The winner will take on Lenoir-Rhyne at 7:00 p.m.
Fourth seed Young Harris College fell behind eighth seed Lander University early as the Bearcats scored three in the first and later led 5-1 after three. The Mountain Lions responded with five runs in the fourth to take a 6-5 lead. Jeremy Begora drove in two with a double while Luke Hatcher ripped a two-run home run in the fourth. A Jack Enrico home run extended the Young Harris lead to 7-5 in the sixth.
However, the Bearcats evened the score at seven with two runs in the sixth before an Enrico double in the seventh put the Mountain Lions ahead 8-7. Nevertheless, Lander scored six runs in the bottom of the seventh to regain the lead and eventually took the contest 13-8 to eliminate the Mountain Lions.
