Two teams, three individuals recognized in ITA Regional Awards

TEMPE, Ariz. – Conference Carolinas had two institutions and three individuals recognized by the International Tennis Association (ITA) when the announced their regional awards.

Every year the ITA recognizes coaches and student-athletes for their excellence both on the court and in their communities throughout the season.
 
The Division II regional awards include: ITA Coach of the Year, ITA Assistant Coach of the Year, Arthur Ashe Leadership & Sportsmanship, ITA Rookie of the Year, ITA Most Improved Player, ITA Senior Player of the Year, ITA Player to Watch, and ITA Community Service Award.

Both Belmont Abbey College men’s women’s teams earned the community service award. On the men’s side, Ricard Novell of Belmont Abbey was selected most improved while Converse University head coach, James Smith, garnered coach of the year honors.
 
Elona Simonov of Belmont Abbey was selected the women’s southeast region rookie of the year.
