Conference Carolinas announces partnership with National Women’s Football Officials Association for women's flag football

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas announced a partnership with the National Women’s Football Officials Association (NFWOA) to become the leagues official Supervisor of Women's Flag Football Officials.  Conference Carolinas was the first NCAA Division I or II conference to announce plans to sponsor women's flag football and will commence its inaugural season in the spring of 2026.

“We are thrilled to have the NWFOA as our Supervisor of Officials as we start women’s flag football,” commissioner Chris Colvin said. “The NWFOA has extensive experience at all levels of flag and tackle football and Conference Carolinas is looking forward to working with the NWFOA.”

The NWFOA staff has worked at all levels of football including Pop Warner, NFL Flag, high school and collegiate flag, international flag, and NFL tackle football. The association currently work in NAIA and NCAA in both flag football and tackle football as officials and in the NFL as replay officials.

“The National Women’s Football Officiating Association is proud to support Conference Carolinas in the continued development of Women’s Flag Football, founder Desiree Abrams said. “We are committed to providing elite-level officiating, promoting integrity on the field, and helping foster a competitive and inclusive environment for student-athletes.”

Conference Carolinas will begin competition in the fall of 2025 with the following 11 institutions: Barton College, Chowan University, Emmanuel University, Erskine College, Ferrum College, King University, Lees-McRae College, Mars Hill University, Mount St. Mary’s University, the University of Mount Olive and Wingate University.
