GREENVILLE, S.C. – Three Conference Carolinas baseball players earned All-America honors from the National Collegiate Baseball Writers of America (NCBWA) and two more earned honorable mention recognition. North Greenville University had three individuals mentioned and Francis Marion University had two garner recognition.
Brett Blomquist and Matty Brown of North Greenville as well as Rijnaldo Euson of Francis Marion all earned third team honors.
NCBWA ALL-AMERICA HONOREES
Blomquist ranked third in Conference Carolinas with a .410 batting average as he collected 87 hits. He added 16 doubles, two triples and eight home runs while driving in 51 and scoring 67 runs.
Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the year, Euson, was third in the league with a 3.20 ERA, going 11-3 with two shutouts and seven complete games. In 98.1 innings pitched, Euson struck out 116 and held opponents to a .211 batting average.
Brown was selected Conference Carolinas Freshman of the Year after leading the league with an ERA of 2.24. He went 10-0 with one complete game in 11 starts. In 80.1 innings pitched, Brown struck out 78 and allowed opponents to hi .224.
Both Charlie Bussey III of Francis Marion and North Greevnille’s Matthew Taubensee earned honorable mention honors by appearing on 25 percent of the ballots.
Bussey III, the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, led the league with a batting average of .437. He slugged .721 with an on base percentage of .545 for an OPS of 1.266. He recorded 83 hits, including 19 doubles, one triple and 11 home runs. Bussey III drove in 65 runs and scored 65 runs.
Taubensee ranked fourth in Conference Carolinas with six saves. He posted a 2.27 ERA and struck out 38 in 35.2 innings pitched.
