PALM BEACH GARDENS, Fla. – Åasmund Norum concluded one of the best individual seasons in King University men's golf history with a 26th-place finish at the NCAA Division II National Championships after carding a three-under round of 69 Wednesday in the final round.
THE BASICS - RESULTS
RESULT: T-26 (76-73-69 - 218)
LOCATION: PGA National; Palm Beach Gardens, Fla.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Round Three
- After hitting a par on the opening hole, Norum posted birdies on the next three holes, moving to three-under par for the day.
- He closed out the front nine with five consecutive pars, hitting the turn with a score of 33.
- After hitting an eagle on the par-five 10th hole, Norum made par on each of the next four holes, before bogeys on 15 and 16 brought him to three-under par.
- He closed the round with a pair of pars, finishing at a three-under score of 69.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Round Two
- After recording three straight pars to open the round, Norum hit a birdie on the fourth hole. He went on to hit pars on the next three holes before a pair of bogeys put him at one-over par at the turn.
- Norum slipped slightly on the back nine, going two-over par through the first eight holes, before an eagle on the par-five 18th hole put him at 73, one-over par.
HOW IT HAPPENED – Round One
- Norum started with four straight pars, before a pair of birdies on the fifth and sixth holes to put himself at two-under par through six holes.
- He finished the front nine with two pars and a bogey, carding a one-under par 35.
- After carding an even-par five on the 10th hole, Norum posted double bogeys on two of the next three holes before a birdie on the par-three 15th hole to bring him to two-over par.
- Norum closed with bogeys on two of his final three holes, finishing the day at four-over par 76.
BEYOND THE RESULTS
- The final round score of 69 is the best-ever score that King has posted at the NCAA Division II National Championships.
