Four from Francis Marion earn All-America honors from NFCA and D2CCA

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Four Conference Carolinas softball players, all from Francis Marion University, earned All-America honors from the National Fastpitch Coaches Association (NFCA) and the Division II Conference Commissioners Association (D2CCA).

Alyssa Poston and Paige Strickland both earned second team All-America honors from the NFCA for the first time while they were joined by teammates Emily Konz and Madalyn White on the D2CCA teams. Strickland garnered first team honors from the D2CCA while Poston, Konz and White all earned second team honors.

Strickland, the Conference Carolinas Player of the Year, ranked fourth in the league with a batting average of .433. She posted 84 hits, including 16 doubles, seven triples and 14 home runs. She drove in 89 and scored 50 runs to pace the Patriot offense.

Poston, the Conference Carolinas Pitcher of the Year, was outstanding in the circle as she led the league with a 1.40 ERA. She was one of two pitchers with an ERA under 2.00 as she was joined by her teammate. Poston went 29-2 on the season with 19 complete games, eight shutouts and one save. In 205.1 innings pitched, Poston struck out 189 and held opponents to a .210 batting average.

Konz hit .444 this season, ranking her third in Conference Carolinas. She collected 88 hits, including nine doubles, three triples and two home runs. Konz drove in 34 and scored 66 runs. She posted an OPS of 1.042, recording a slugging percentage of .551 and on base percentage of .491.

White led the league with a .498 batting average and was the only player in the league with at least 100 hits with 105. She added eight doubles, two triples and one home run while scoring a league high 81 runs. She posted a slugging percentage of .569 and on base percentage of .543 for an OPS of 1.112. In 211 at bats, White only struck out seven times and walked 18 times.

The NFCA All-America teams are voted on by the Association's All-America Committees. In Division II, the committee is comprised of one member head coach from each of the NCAA's eight regions. All student-athletes who were nominated by a member head coach and voted to the first- or second-team All-Region squads were eligible for All-America consideration.
