Francis Marion shuts out Georgia Southwestern in NCAA SE Regional Game 1

FLORENCE, SC - The #2 ranked Francis Marion University Patriots defeated Georgia Southwestern 6-0 in the first round of the NCAA Division II Southeast Regional Softball Tournament. 

The Patriots go to 50-4 overall with the win. Georgia Southwestern falls to 27-26 on the year. 

Alyssa Poston went 5.2 innings, giving up five hits, one walk and struck out three for her 27th win of the year. 

Francis Marion scored one in the bottom of the first on an Anderson Thrower single. They added three more in the 5th inning, highlighted by a Rylie Webster solo homerun and added two more in the sixth inning. 

Thrower went 2-for-3 on the day with 2 runs batted in, Paige Strickland was 1-for-4 and also had 2 rbi's.

Jenna Walling pitched the last 1.1 innings for her 4th save of the season. 

FMU will now play Wingate Friday, May 9 at 1 p.m. at FMU softball field.
