Conference Carolinas has 16 programs, 132 student-athletes earn ITA academic awards

GREENVILLE, S.C. – Conference Carolinas had 16 programs and 132 student-athletes recognized this week when the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (ITA) announced their 2025 Division II ITA Scholar-Athletes and All-Academic teams.

In all 66 women and nine women’s teams were recognized along with 66 men and seven men’s teams. Barton College, Belmont Abbey College, Chowan University, Emmanuel University, Francis Marion University, Lees-McRae College and Young Harris College had both their men’s and women’s teams recognized. Additionally, Converse University and Erskine College had their women’s programs honored.

Individually, Barton led the way with 27 total student-athletes recognized, 15 men and 12 women. Belmont Abbey followed with 25, 13 men and 12 women while Young Harris had nine men and seven women for a total of 16. Francis Marion had 14 total, 10 men and four women.

Both Emmanuel and Lees-McRae had 13 total individuals recognized, seven men and six women for Emmanuel and seven women and six men for Lees-McRae. Erskine had 10 women recognized while Chowan followed with nine total, six men and three women. Converse round out the group with five women honored.

To be named an ITA Scholar-Athlete, one must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a grade point average of at least 3.5 (on a 4.00 scale) for the current academic year
  • Be listed on the institutional eligibility form
  • To be named an ITA All-Academic Team, programs must meet the following requirements:
  • Have a team grade point average of 3.2 or above (on a 4.00 scale),
  • All student-athletes included should be listed on the institutional eligibility form, and
  • All varsity letter winners should be factored into the cumulative team GPA for the current academic year
