GREENVILLE, S.C. – The first NCAA NPI rankings for football and women's volleyball were released this week as well as the second set of rankings for men's and women's soccer.
The NCAA Power Index, or NPI, is a ranking system used in Division II and Division III to evaluate team performance. NPI considers game results and the strength of opponents to calculate a team's NPI value and ranking. This metric will determine the NCAA Division II championship fields in 2026-27.
NCAA NPI INFORMATION
In men's soccer, 10 teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II Championship in Super Region 2 and in football, eight teams will qualify in Super Region 2. In both women's soccer and women's volleyball, eight teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II Championship in the Southeast Region. Following the automatic qualifiers in each sport, the next ranked teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II Championship.
FOOTBALL NPI
Eight teams will be selected in Super Region 2 in football as Conference Carolinas has one team ranked in the top 10. North Greenville University is ranked fifth in the first NPI rankings.
The NPI rankings will be released the next three Sundays, October 26, November 2 and November 9, before selections on November 15.
WOMEN'S SOCCER NPI
In women's soccer, Conference Carolinas has four teams ranked in the top 10. UNC Pembroke leads that contingent as they are ranked fourth in the region, followed by Francis Marion University at fifth and Belmont Abbey College at sixth. Lees-McRae College rounds out the group at eighth.
MEN'S SOCCER NPI
In men's soccer, 10 teams will qualify for the NCAA Division II Men's Soccer Championship in Super Region 2, which combines the South and Southeast Regions. Conference Carolinas has two teams ranked in the top 12, led by Lees-McRae College at third. Francis Marion follows at 10th.
Both the men's and women's soccer rankings will be updated daily starting on October 26 through the selections on November 9.
WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL NPI
Conference Carolinas has three teams ranked in the top 10 of the women's volleyball Southeast Region rankings. Francis Marion leads the way at fourth, followed by Emmanuel University at sixth and UNC Pembroke at eighth.
The women's volleyball rankings will be released again on Monday, October 26, before being released daily from November 2 through the selections on November 15.
