FRESHMAN OF THE MONTH - Previous Winners
Davide Nicolini | Lees-McRae | Freshman | Outside Hitter | Castelnuovo Rangone, Italy
Nicolini averaged 2.717 kills, 1.25 digs, 0.33 blocks and 0.33 aces per set in his debut month for Lees-McRae. The outside hitter posted an attack percentage of .190 with 65 kills over seven matches. In back-to-back matches in Florida, Nicolini registered 15 kills and a .303 attack percentage against Barry and 18 kills and a .231 attack percentage against St. Thomas (Fla.). He posted five digs in three matches and tallied three total blocks against St. Thomas.

FRESHMAN OF THE MONTH - Previous Winners
Elijah Carrington | Belmont Abbey | Freshman | 141 pounds | Uniondale, New York
Carrington went 5-0 in January for Belmont Abbey, taking one win each by pin, major decision and technical fall. All five wins came in Conference Carolinas action as he started with a 10-2 win over Mount Olive's Brock Christian and a 1:00 pin over Coker's Weston Bare. He followed that with a 22-6 technical fall win over Josiah Canales Maldonado of Ferrum. What might have been his biggest win of the month, he defeated sixth-ranked Logan Robinson of UNC Pembroke 15-12 before closing the month with a 13-9 win over Newberry's Caiden Pelc.

Shandrea Morgan | Lincoln Memorial | Freshman | 180 pounds | Cleveland, Tennessee
Morgan went 1-1 for Lincoln Memorial last month. She earned a pin over Bluefield Stats' Megan Pendergrass in 1:40 to help the Railsplitters to an 18-16 victory.

Grace Davis | Converse | Freshman | Sprints | Greenville, South Carolina
Davis posted the fastest two 60 meter dash times in all of NCAA Division II on Friday at the Tryon Banked Invitational. In the prelims, she finished in 7.34 seconds, before finishing in 7.29 seconds in the finals. That also sets a Converse school record and facility record.

Henry Bullock | Mount Olive | Freshman | Sprints | Raleigh, North Carolina
Bullock not only set an NCAA provisional mark in the 400 meters, but also broke the Mount Olive school record with a time of 48.11 seconds. That mark ranks him in the top three in the southeast region, and is the only freshman in that group. He also ranks 32nd in all of NCAA Division II, the only Conference Carolinas athlete in that group.

George was solid in January for Belmont Abbey, helping the Crusaders to a 6-2 record. She averaged 8.5 points and 9.9 rebounds per game while adding 13 steals, two assists and four blocks. She posted three double-doubles in the month, highlighted by a career night where she posted career-highs with 17 rebounds and 16 points in a win over Mount Olive. The freshman also posted 12 points and 12 rebounds against Shorter and 12 points and 11 rebounds in a win over Ferrum.

Jaevian Alston | Mount Olive | Freshman | Guard/Forward | Louisburg, North Carolina
Alston helped Mount Olive to three wins in January while averaging 13.5 points and 7.3 rebounds, while adding 11 steals, six assists and four blocks. He posted three double-doubles in the month, all coming in three straight wins for the Trojans. The streak started with 16 points and 10 rebounds against Erskine before adding 16 points and 10 rebounds against Lees-McRae. He closed the streak with 14 points and 11 rebounds against Belmont Abbey.

Garrick registered a 10-game average of 155 for Emmanuel in January. She posted a high game of the month of 196 at the University of Mobile Rammit Classic.

In January, Buchanan registered an eight-game average of 184 for Emmanuel. His high game of the month came at the FSU Mike Fine Seminole Classic, where he posted a game of 221.

Kayla Smith | Converse | Freshman | Easton, Maryland
Smith helped Converse to a 2-1 record in January with wins over Emmanuel and King. She posted seven first-place finishes throughout the month, including three against Emmanuel and two each against Lenoir-Rhyne and King. Against Emmanuel, she set a personal record in the 50 yard butterfly with a time of 26.45 seconds. She then improved on that mark, touching the all in 26.37 seconds against Lenoir-Rhyne.

Jay Owens | Converse | Freshman | Central, South Carolina
Owens helped Converse to wins over Emmanuel and King during the month of January, taking three first-place finishes against Emmanuel. He won and set a new personal record in the 50 yard backstroke with a time of 23.70 seconds against Emmanuel. He then posted an individual runner-up and third-place finish in the 200 yard individual medley (2:04.78) and the 200 yard backstroke (2:02.03) while helping the 200 yard medley relay to a runner-up finish with a time of 1:38.98. Against King, he posted two runner-up finishes and a third-place finish.
