BAC, Emmanuel men and women, Barton men advance on opening day of 2026 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Bowling Championships

NEWPORT, Ky. – The 2026 Conference Carolinas/Great Midwest Bowling Championships got underway on Friday at Super Bowl in Newport, Kentucky. Belmont Abbey College, Emmanuel University and Walsh University advanced on the women’s side while Emmanuel and Barton College earned wins on the men’s side.

Belmont Abbey earned the top seed in qualifying while Emmanuel took the second seed. Ursuline College earned the third seed as they were followed by Walsh University, Thomas More University and Barton College.

In the first round, Belmont Abbey beat Barton 4-0 while Emmanuel defeated Thomas More 4-3 and Walsh defeated Ursuline 4-3. In the winner’s bracket, Belmont Abbey will take on Ursuline while Emmanuel faces Walsh on Saturday. Barton will face Thomas More in an elimination game to start the day on Saturday as well. All three matches will take place at 8:00 a.m.

Belmont Abbey earned the top seed in qualifying as they were followed by Emmanuel, Thomas More, Walsh and Barton. As the top seed, Belmont Abbey earned a bye into Saturday’s second round.

Belmont Abbey will face Emmanuel on Saturday at 11:30 a.m. as the Lions topped Thomas More 4-1 on Friday evening. Barton defeated Walsh 4-2, setting up an elimination match between Walsh and Thomas More at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday. Emmanuel awaits the winner of Belmont Abbey and Barton in the semifinals.
