FRANKLIN SPRINGS, Ga. – Lander University claimed their first Conference Carolinas Acrobatics & Tumbling Championship on Sunday evening, defeating Wingate University 257.680-257.010.
Lander got off to a solid start, winning the compulsory event before Wingate came back to win the acro event and take a 65.000-64.825 lead. The Bulldogs extended that lead and held a 94.425-93.300 advantage following the pyramid.
The Bearcats cut into the deficit, winning the toss event to pull within 121.100-120.950. However, Wingate again extended their lead in the tumbling event to hold a 173.100-172.250 lead going into team event. Lander outscored Wingate 85.43-83.91 in the team event to take the title 257.680-257.010.
