GREENVILLE, S.C. - Conference Carolinas is gearing up to host its 2026 Women’s Tennis Championship at the Palmetto Tennis Center in Sumter, South Carolina starting Wednesday, April 22 and concluding Saturday, April 25.
Young Harris College and Belmont Abbey College earned the top two seeds and byes to the semifinals. Young Harris took the top seed with a KPI of .251 while Belmont Abbey finished with a KPI of .232 to take the second seed. The Mountain Lions posted records of 17-5 overall and 12-0 in conference play to win the southwest division while the Crusaders won the northwest division. Belmont Abbey finished with a conference record of 10-2, going 20-7 overall. Both of the semifinal matches will be on Friday, April 24 at 1:00 p.m.
North Greenville University finished with KPI of .161 to take the third seed and earn a bye into the quarterfinals. The Trailblazers finished with a conference mark of 9-3, going 14-8 overall.
The Trailblazers will play the winner of sixth seed Converse University (11-9, 8-4) and seventh seed Lees-McRae College (8-7, 5-7). The Valkyries and Bobcats will matchup in the first round at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday, April 22 and the winner will face North Greenville on Thursday, April 23 at 1:00 p.m.
The other two first round matchups will feature fourth seed Barton College (13-6, 9-3) and ninth seed Shorter University (10-10, 4-8) and fifth seed Erskine College (12-8, 9-3) and eighth seed Francis Marion University (9-10, 8-4). Those winners will face each other in the quarterfinals with the winner taking on Young Harris.
Barton was awarded the fourth seed by virtue of winning the east division as division winners were guaranteed a top four seed. Barton and Francis Marion tied for the east division championship and Barton was awarded the guaranteed top four seed through the conference tiebreakers as Barton had the higher KPI (.044) than Francis Marion (.032).
The championship match is scheduled for 1:00 p.m. on Saturday.
