Ferrum, Wingate to meet in 2026 Conference Carolinas Women's Flag Football Championship title game

DURHAM, N.C. – The top two seeds of the Conference Carolinas Women’s Flag Football Championship will meet in Sunday’s championship match following semifinal wins on Saturday.

No. 1 Wingate def. No. 4 Barton 32-18
Wingate grabbed the early lead with back-to-back touchdowns in the opening quarter before Barton scored as time expired to make the score 14-6 after the opening 15 minutes. The teams traded touchdowns in the second quarter, giving Wingate the 20-12 lead at the half. Wingate added a touchdown in the third quarter and later scored with one minute remaining in the game to take a 32-12 lead. Barton didn’t give up, scoring with 12 seconds remaining to make the final score 32-18 in favor of Wingate.

Jhenelle Francis threw for 182 yards and four touchdowns to go along with 58 rushing yards for Wingate. For Barton, Sawyer Rigdon threw for 327 yards and three touchdowns.
Wingate will take on Ferrum in the championship at 2:00 p.m. on Sunday.

No. 3 Lees-McRae No. 2 Ferrum
In a contest that was played within two possessions the entire way, Ferrum held a 7-0 lead after the opening 15 minutes. Lees-McRae then came back with 12 points in the second quarter to hold a 12-7 advantage at halftime. Ferrum regained a 14-12 lead with a touchdown in the third quarter. The panthers then added two touchdowns in the fourth quarter to take a 27-12 lead. Lees-McRae scored with just more than two minutes remaining to pull within 27-20. The Bobcats got the stop on defense but couldn’t get the tying score as Ferrum took the contest 27-20.

Payson Shreeve led Ferrum with 318 yards passing and four touchdowns while Jaden Hiers and Macy Taylor caught two touchdowns each. Makenzie Hicks threw for 350 yards and three touchdowns for Lees-McRae
