DURHAM, N.C. – Wingate University won the inaugural Conference Carolinas Women’s Flag Football Championship title, defeating Ferrum College 32-14 on Sunday afternoon at Durham County Memorial Stadium.
Ferrum jumped ahead with a touchdown on the first possession of the game and led 7-0 after the first quarter. Wingate answered with a pair of second-quarter touchdowns to take a 14-7at halftime.
Wingate extended the lead with a pair of touchdowns in the third quarter before the Panthers added a touchdown late to pull within 26-14 heading to the final quarter. Wingate added another touchdown in the fourth quarter and held the Panthers off the board to take the title 32-14.
