DUNCAN, S.C. – The 2026 Conference Carolinas Softball Championship is down to four teams after the second day of competition. Top seed Francis Marion University and seventh University of Mount Olive will meet in the winner’s bracket while third seed Southern Wesleyan University and sixth seed Chowan University meet in an elimination game.
Due to impending weather, Saturday’s contests will start at 10:00 a.m. with games at 12:00 p.m. and 2:00 p.m. to follow.
No. 1 Francis Marion def. No. 9 Converse, 8-0
Francis Marion didn’t waste any time lighting up the scoreboard with three runs in the first inning, two on a Rylie Webster double. That was all Alyssa Poston need as she was perfect through four innings. The Patriots added one run in the third and three in the fourth be a Jenna Walling home run ended the contest in the sixth. Posted allowed two hits and struck out six in six innings.
No. 7 Mount Olive def. No. 3 Southern Wesleyan, 5-3
Mount Olive took the lead with a run in the first before Southern Wesleyan came back to take a 2-1 lead with a pair of runs in the second inning. The Trojans answered I the third, scoring twice on an Emma King double. Mount Olive added runs in the fourth and sixth innings to take a 5-2 lead. Southern Wesleyan matched that run in the sixth, but that as all Mount Olive allowed to take the contest 5-3.
King drove in three on two hits for Mount Olive while Alex Steen earned the win, tossing four innings. Hailey King tossed the final three innings, allowing one run on two hits to earn the save.
No. 6 Chowan def. No. 9 King, 10-3
Chowan plated a pair of runs in the second and took a 3-0 lead on an Ava Mizell run-scoring single in the fourth. King fought back with three runs in the fifth inning, two on a Carlie Sheets single. However, Chowan responded with seven runs in the sixth inning. The frame was highlighted a two-run singles from Mizell and Helton. That was all the Hawks needed as they took the contest 10-3. Mizell led the way for Chowan, driving in three on two hits.
No. 2 Young Harris def. No. 4 North Greenville, 3-2
Young Harris grabbed the lead with a run in the first inning and extended the advantage to 2-0 on a Gracie Hughes run-scoring single in the third inning. North Greenville evened the score with a pair of runs in the fifth before the Mountain Lions responded in the bottom of the inning. Shelby Duncan ripped a double down the right field line that scored Jordan Morris to give Young Harris a 3-2 lead. Lilly Jones and Julia Moore made run standup as they recorded the final six outs. Moore tossed the final inning, to earn the save while Jones earned the win as she tossed the first six innings.
No. 6 Chowan def. No. 12 Converse, 7-2
An Ava Mizell triple and Kyra Helton double gave Chowan a 1-0 lead three batters into the contest. The Hawks added a run in the third before scoring four runs in the fourth, highlighted by a Mizell two-run double. Mizell later made it a 7-0 Chowan lead with a sacrifice fly in the sixth inning. Converse cut into the deficit with two runs in the sixth, but that was all Chowan allowed as the Hawks took the contest 7-2.
Mizell drove in three runs while Helton and Lenita Bryson collected three hits apiece for the Hawks.
No.3 Southern Wesleyan def. No. 2 Young Harris, 3-2
Southern Wesleyan grabbed the lead on a two-run single in the second inning. The Warriors stretched the lead to 3-0 on a Rebecca Lamb single in the third. Young Harris responded with runs in the bottom of the third and fourth innings to pull within 3-2. The Mountain Lions threatened in the seventh inning with a pair of runners, but Young Harris closed out the 3-2 win.
Emily Collins tossed six and one-thirds innings, allowing two runs on nine hits for the Warriors before Anicka McFarland got the final two outs.
