GASTONIA, N.C. – Young Harris College and Belmont Abbey College remained as the final two undefeated teams with wins on the third day of the 2026 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship.
No. 5 UNC Pembroke def. No. 9 King, 11-6
UNC Pembroke jumped ahead with three runs in the first inning, two on a Mason Mozeley two-run single. King then manufactured three runs in the top of the second inning to even the score. However, the Braves responded with three runs in the bottom of the seventh, highlighted by a Jackson Crute two-run double.
The UNC Pembroke lead grew to 8-3 on a two-run double from Daniel Stephens. King added one run in the fourth before Tommy Regan drove in a pair in the fifth to pull the Tornado within 8-6. However, UNC Pembroke put the game out of reach with three runs in the eighth, taking the contest 11-6.
UNC Pembroke advances to face Francis Marion in another elimination game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. King is eliminated.
No. 4 Mount Olive def. No. 7 Erskine, 8-4
Mount Olive grabbed the lead with six runs in the first inning, highlighted by a three-run home run from Mac James. Jakhari Howard followed in the second inning with a run-scoring double that stretched the Trojan lead to 7-0. Erskine cut into the deficit with a pair of runs in the third inning before Mount Olive extended the lead to 8-2 with a run in the bottom of the inning. The Flying Fleet cut into the deficit again in the seventh inning with two runs, but that was all Mount Olive allowed, taking the contest 8-4.
Mount Olive faces North Greenville University in another elimination game at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday. Erskine is eliminated.
No. 4 Young Harris def. No. 1 North Greenville, 11-3
CJ Dean gave North Greenville a 2-0 lead with a home run in the first inning. Young Harris responded in the third inning with six runs, four on a grand slam from Jack Enrico. Dean pulled North Greenville within 6-3 with a sacrifice fly in the bottom of the inning. However, the Mountain Lions scored a pair on a Jeo Hernandez single it the fourth inning before scoring single runs in the sixth, seventh and ninth innings to take the game 11-3.
Young Harris advances to face Belmont Abbey at 3:00 p.m. on Saturday. The winner of that game advances to Sunday's championship. North Greenville faces Mount Olive at 11:00 a.m. in an elimination game.
No. 3 Belmont Abbey def. No. 2 Francis Marion, 10-9
Will Dorrell gave Francis Marion a 2-0 lead in the first inning with a two-run home run, but Belmont Abbey responded with a run in the top of the second. The Patriots added a run in the third before Ethan McAnally extended the Francis Marion lead to 4-1 with a home run in the third inning. The Francis Marion lead grew to 5-1 in the fourth before Belmont Abbey scored two runs in the fifth to pull within 5-3.
Back-to-back run scoring extra base hits for Todd Velotta and Jack Boyles evened the tally at five before a Josh Wilson sacrifice fly gave Belmont Abbey a 6-5 lead. The Crusader lead grew to 7-5 on a Jake Bidoglio sacrifice fly in the seventh and 8-5 on a run-scoring groundout in the eighth. McAnally laced a two-run home run the bottom of the eighth to pull Francis Marion within 8-7. However, Fattore drove in a run in the ninth and the Crusaders add another to take a 10-7 lead. Myles Proffitt ripped a two-run home run in the ninth for Francis Marion, but that was all Belmont Abbey allowed as the Crusaders took the contest 10-9.
Charlie Bussey III scored two runs, the second was his 104th of the season, setting a new NCAA Division II record.
