North Greenville forces Monday game for 2026 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship title

GASTONIA, N.C. – North Greenville University won a pair of games on Sunday of 2026 Conference Carolinas Baseball Championship to force a winner-take-all game on Monday.

No. 1 North Greenville def. No. 3 Belmont Abbey, 11-3
Lane McGaha gave North Greenville a 1-0 lead with a home run in the top of the second inning, but Michael Fattore answered with a home run in the bottom of the inning for Belmont Abbey to even the score. In the third, North Greenville took advantage of Belmont Abbey defensive miscues, scoring three runs to take a 4-1 lead. The Trailblazers then scored five runs, three on a home run from Josh Foulks in the fourth inning to extend the lead to 9-1. The Belmont Abbey deficit grew to 10-1, before Joe Whitaker ripped a home run in the bottom the inning. North Greenville tacked on a run in the seventh and Belmont Abbey scored one in the ninth, but North Greenville took the contest 11-3.

No. 1 North Greenville def. No. 4 Young Harris, 9-4
North Greenville grabbed the lead with three runs in the third, two on a Thomas Powell home run. Young Harris responded with a run in the fourth inning as Jayden Carbonell-Smith drove in Kade Smallwood. The Trailblazers manufactured a pair of runs in the sixth, but Young Harris responded with a pair in the bottom half of the inning, to make the score 5-3. North Greenville stretched the lead to 8-3 with three runs in the seventh, highlighted by a two-run single from Mason Swinney. The Mountain Lions scored in the eight, but North Greenville matched that run in the ninth to take the contest 9-4.
