Young Harris falls in opening round of NCAA Division II Women's Lacrosse Championship

ST. AUGUSTINE, Fla.  – The Young Harris College women’s lacrosse team had their season came to a close on Thursday evening in the NCAA Division Women’s Lacrosse Championship opening round. The sixth-seeded Mountain Lions fell to third-seeded Saint Leo University 19-11.

Saint Leo scored the first two goals, but Young Harris responded with three straight, including the final two from Addison Heiser to take a 3-2 lead. However, the Lions scored the next three goals, including two in the opening period to take a 5-3 lead.

Following another Young Harris goal, Saint Leo scored four straight before the teams traded goals to give the Lions a 10-5 lead at the half. Saint Leo put the game out of reach, outscoring Young Harris 7-2 in the third quarter, including five straight goals in the middle of the period.

The Mountain Lions scored the final four goals of the game, but the Lions took the contest 19-11.

Young Harris ends the season with a 14-6 record, winning the Conference Carolinas regular season and tournament titles.
