SPARTANBURG, S.C. – Southern Wesleyan picked up its first-ever Conference Carolinas Men’s Basketball Championship title with a 78-68 championship game win over Belmont Abbey on Sunday, March 8 at Jerry Richardson Indoor Stadium.
The championship is also Southern Wesleyan’s first Conference Carolinas title in any sport.
The Conference Carolinas Tournament championship for Southern Wesleyan punctuates an incredible turnaround for a program that was just 2-26 in the 2017-18 season. After the tournament title that sends the Warriors to their inaugural NCAA Division II Tournament, Southern Wesleyan is now 20-11 overall on the 2019-20 season.
Southern Wesleyan basically led from start-to-finish in the championship game with the Warriors holding the lead for over 38 minutes. Tournament MVP Clenzo Ross led Southern Wesleyan with 22 points. (Box Score) and (Press Conference)
